Top 10 Most Asked Questions About A Boudoir Session
By Catherine Cooper|Published September 25, 2026

If you're thinking about your first time boudoir photoshoot, you've got questions. Good. Almost every woman who has walked into my Dallas studio had them too... most of them just never said them out loud until we got on the phone.

“I will not make you look like someone else.”
These are the ten I hear the most, answered the way I'd answer you if you were sitting right across from me.
The 10 questions women ask before a first boudoir photoshoot
1. The women on your website look like models. How can I look like that? The women on my website are everyday women who started exactly where you are. Never done this before and scared to death. But don't worry, you're going to look amazing too. I pose you for every single photo, and I'm confident I can do for you what I've done for every one of them. All you have to do is book the session and let me hold your hand.

2. What do I need to bring? You really don't need to bring much, because I've got the majority covered. You will need a few outfits, and I like to keep things very simple. A teddy, a beautiful bra and panty set, a simple sweater, a t-shirt... they all work so well for boudoir photos. Once your session is booked, I'll send you a guide to help you choose your outfits. And if you want a dress moment, The Tulle Shed is my collection of about 25 dresses, most of them tulle, that you can add on to your session.

3. Is hair and makeup included? Yes. Every session includes professional hair and makeup. It also includes four looks (three outfit looks plus a sheet-only look), posing guidance from yours truly, and a whole lot of fun. [Here's what the whole day looks like](/experience), start to finish.

4. How does payment work? Boudoir photos are an investment in yourself, so I keep it all in plain writing. For every price, every collection, and all the payment details, visit [the Investment page](/investment).
5. Do you retouch my photos? Yes, I do. By the time you come back in to see your images and pick your favorites, they've already been retouched. That means I've already smoothed skin, softened stretch marks and cellulite, and removed temporary blemishes. If there's anything you want left exactly as it is, no problem. Just tell me before your session is complete and I won't touch it. And please know this: I will not make you look like someone else. The whole point of this session is for you to see the BADASS you truly are.
6. I need my images to remain private. Will they be on your website? Absolutely not. I repeat... absolutely NOT. Every woman you see me post online gave me written permission to show off her images. I will never post anything without your consent. And on your day, the studio is yours. One client a day, a private loft, and the only people in the room are me and my makeup artist.

7. How long will my session last? About four hours. That may sound long, but believe me, the time flies. Yes... you're going to be having that much fun.
8. Do I have to be photographed nude? No, no you do not. Anyone who's followed me for a while knows implied, tasteful nudes are one of my favorite parts of a session. But my number one goal is making sure you're comfortable. It's completely fine to say no to the implied nude part of the photoshoot and still walk out with drop dead gorgeous images.

9. Where are you located? Deep Ellum, Dallas: 4140 Commerce St, Suite 202. Every photoshoot takes place in my private studio loft there, and women come in from Fort Worth and all over DFW.
10. How far in advance should I book my session? Book your photoshoot at least 6 to 8 weeks before the date you need your album in hand.
If your question isn't on this list, ask me. That's what I'm here for, and there's no such thing as a silly one. You'll find even more answers [on my FAQ page](/contact).
And if you're the woman from question number one, scared to death and not sure you belong in front of a camera, [read what Courtney wrote about the day she almost didn't show up](/blog/boudoir-body-dysmorphia). She said it better than I ever could.
